Children:

Rex - 6 1/2

Maizy - 3 1/2

BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?

Keri - I think most moms would agree that the minute you become a mom, your entire life becomes guided by this amazing little baby. Then, your children continue to be your number one priority but you learn how to have your own life too mixed in there!

BCM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?

Keri - There are soooo many that is a tough one to answer! The most recent moment was this past weekend when I went to check on kids playing  and I stopped myself at my son’s door and listened in. Rex was reading to my little one Maizy beautifully. I stood and listened for about 5 minutes. The dialogue and love between them was truly overwhelming. Those are the moments I cherish the most.  Sometimes they are the most simple but they are the ones that touch my heart the most as a mother.

BCM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?

Keri - This sounds so cliché – but balancing work and motherhood of course. I haven’t learned to feel less guilt! I try and try…

BCM- If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?

Keri - You need to make sure that you spend some quality time with your husband after having children.  Taking care of yourself is a priority - because if you are not feeling well physically and emotionally, you will not be functional for your child.  Whether you go out for dinner, get a manicure, or a quick 10 minute massage, it is important to always feel good about yourself.  Be open with your partner about your feelings and needs, supporting one another is key to mental and physical health during this change of lifestyle.

BCM - Why did you get involved in nutrition, health, and wellness?

Keri -I have always been passionate about nutrition, health and wellness. I was an athlete growing up and although being thin was something like most adolescents I desired, being thin without being strong and healthy meant nothing.  But there was also an innate interest in food and health and the power behind food. My friend from childhood still claims that in 7th grade science class I proclaimed that my body was craving vitamin E. Who knows but the passion was always there…

BCM - What inspired you to start your company Keri Glassman, Nutritious Life?

Keri -It is something that truly wasn’t even a decision. It was just something I felt I would always do once I had my degree. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and truly love what I do.

BCM - Do you have any nutrition tips for moms and families?

Keri -Be prepared!! Being prepared is the number one way to feed your kids and whole family the right way. I go to the farmer’s market on Saturday and another grocery store at some point over the weekend. These two fast stops feeds the family for the week. I plan the dinners for the week on Sunday and put them up in the kitchen and I always have frozen options available just in case!

BCM - How do you manage your career while being a mother and a wife? Any advice for moms?

Keri - I always say I take it week by week… Some weeks I feel on top of everything from kids homework and bday parties to everything going on at work to being social with my husband and getting in exercise. Other weeks, I am just keeping my head above water. Like being prepared with food, I try to be very organized and prepared. My calendar at work is in sync with home, I have my notebook with lists upon lists that never leaves my side and I have great support from friends and family. These things usually keep me on top of everything. We’ll see next week…

BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your kids?

Keri -My favorites are of course the ones revolved around food and exercise! The basic weekend activities… We love to cook (baking and soups are our favorites!), go to the park (sometimes just to hang and have a picnic and other times to play baseball or go to the playground) and we love to swim.

BCM - If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?

Keri - This is something I am working on myself – being in the moment with the kids as much as humanly possible!

BCM - What was your favorite Big City Moms event?

Keri - The Biggest Baby Shower!!!
