BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE BUSY MAMA

Mother, may I speak to you? If you’re a mother, I guarantee you’ve been there. If you are a new mom, you are going there quickly! If you have more than one child you’ve definitely been there. And if you’re a mom of an entire brood, Honey, you live there. I’m talking about the, “I’ll worry about myself later” club and 9 out of 10 moms of small children have charter membership. If the old saying is true that “when mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”, then the question remains why do so many of us forsake our own appearance for the well being of our children?

Most moms today see their own appearance and their own happiness contingent upon their children’s. Whatever time and energy is left over they will devote to themselves.  And sometimes that’s not very much. I am constantly hearing from moms who have barely enough time for themselves after everyone in the family is attended to. Mom comes last! But in order for mama to take expert care of everyone else, mama has to be happy. Taking JUST 15 minutes to yourself is actually beneficial to both you AND your child so try to find those moments and let’s make them count! Following a few simple steps can change the way you feel and you can do it all in one laundry cycle!

When we are tired, it wears most on our skin.

The quickest way to improve the complexion and improve oxygen and blood flow to the skin is a face mask. So, baby naps for an hour? Throw it on for 15 minutes while you catch up on folding laundry or washing bottles. Two to three times a week with an at-home face mask can give a tired new mom an appearance that people will notice and creating a mask routine will make your facial serums and moisturizers more effective.

There are lots of great masks out there and before choosing one-ask yourself what you need:

  • Dry/Hydration-choose a moisturizing mask
  • Exfoliating-choose a mud or clay mask or a specific exfoliating mask
  • Dullness-Choose a brightening mask.

Money Saver Mask – Try this trick! You can also slather honey on your face and turn the hot water on your bathroom faucet. Place a bath towel over your head and put your face over the sink. Create a “tent” with the towel for the steam to collect around your face for 10-15 mins. The steam will help the honey’s natural enzymes work to exfoliate dead skin and give you a hydrating mask you will love, then wash away clean.

Now you ask, what’s next? MAKEUP! Busy moms want a makeup regimen that’s quick and easy! There are 3 key items you can choose that will give you an easy, “finished” look for everyday.

Step 1: BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer.  Colored moisturizers-not intended to be your sole source of hydration (you need to use a moisturizer too), even out skin tones and generally smooth out complexions and make you look and feel awake!

Step 2 : Mascara. A no brainer here-the proverbial “cherry on the sundae”, mascara makes the eyes pop so they look alive and open. And it’s easy-apply a light coat to lashes or layer on for more drama.

Step 3: Lip Gloss/Lip Stick. The easiest way to give your face a more finished look is to apply a shine or a color and softness to your lips. And that makes kissing those chubby baby cheeks so much more special.

A few quick fixes and you are ready to go! And all under 15 minutes so no more excuses.

Treat yourself to something easy that will make a difference in the way you look and feel. I can virtually guarantee it will make for a happier mama and a happier baby!
