BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?

Marsha - My priorities were drastically rearranged!   The things that had been so important to me prior, took a backseat to my new role. Work was the area that was most affected. My work is fun, but kept me up at very odd hours. Because of time differences from country to country, it was not unusual for my phone to be ringing at 2 in the morning.  I curbed it for my first child and when I became pregnant with my second, I gave my clients a curfew and switched my phone off after 9pm.  Unheard of!

BCM- What has been your most memorable moment as a mom?

Marsha -Every day is a memorable moment. I have to stop taking pictures of my kids just smiling at me. I have hundreds, maybe thousands. It is still amazing to me that these two babies came from me.

BCM- What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?

Marsha -What to plan for dinner every night! My Boy is so fussy. He will only eat plain looking food. If it looks the least bit exotic he won’t eat it. It’s quite restricting.

BCM- What activities do you like to do with your kids and why?

Marsha -I love to travel with them. As crazy as it sounds. My babies have always been great travelers – and when we get to the beach, we all have a good time.

BCM- How do you maintain your sense of style while juggling a business and children?

Marsha -Sense of style… Hmm. I really only get dressed up in the evening when they are in bed! It is the only time that it’s safe to wear something nice.

Other than that its wardrobe basics that can wipe clean or be thrown in the washing machine. It’s tempting, but I try not to live in my sweats.

BCM- What are your favorite “Mom Essentials” and why?

Marsha -I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old, I can’t heave around a double stroller, so the wheely board for the bugaboo is great. Three is old enough to walk to most of the places we go, if it gets too much for him, he just hops right on.

I also love the shopping cart cover thingy.

BCM- What is the best advice you received about being a mom?

Marsha -Savor every moment, even when you are about to pull your hair out. It goes so fast.

BCM- If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?

Marsha -You don’t have to do it by yourself. If you don’t have family that can help out , try to connect with other expectant and new mom’s. They have all the answers!,  Often just having someone who has traveled or is walking the same path as you,  makes it that little bit easier

BCM- Do you have a motto you would like to share with other moms?

Marsha -If we all hold hands we will rise together.

It is so important that we talk and share our experiences. Exchange important information. Pass on good advice.

BCM- Name your favorite Big City Moms event to date..

Marsha -I love the expectant mom dinners. It’s a wonderful thing to witness all  that life in one room.
