BCM - How did your life change when you became a mom?
Sally: I gave birth to my boys, quit my job and relocated from London to New York all in a period of 3 months. Having the boys really put the latter two events into perspective.
BCM- What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?
Sally: I don’t think there has been one particular moment. My kids amaze me every day.
BCM- What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?
Sally: Sleep deprivation. I think I’ve finally resigned myself to being tired indefinitely.
BCM - What inspired you to start your own business - Urban Nurture?
Sally: I moved from London to New York City and was stunned by the dismal state of the New York nanny market and the shortfall of parenting support services. There seemed an obvious gap in the market for a high quality provider.
BCM - How do you manage your work/life balance? Any advice for moms?
Sally: I’m fortunate that I own my own business and can decide when to work and when to spend time with my family. My best advice would be not to try to be a superwoman and do it all.
BCM - What types of activities do you like to do w/ your kids?
Sally: Anything outdoorsy. My boys are really active kids. We spend our weekends in Pennsylvania and the kids love every moment. It is always a big drama getting them back into the car to return to NYC.
BCM - What do you do for fun?
Sally: Relax with my family.
BCM- What are your favorite Mom Essentials and why?
Sally: Portable DVD players. If you travel a lot, they are a godsend.
BCM- If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?
Sally: Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help. People have a tendency in this town to want to appear perfect. Being a mom should not be a competition.
BCM - Which BCM event was your favorite?
Sally: Sleep training workshops with Urban Nurture!
